A young man named Jaydul Mia (27) was brutally hacked and stabbed to death following a dispute over land and property in Baniyachong, Habiganj.

The incident occurred around 11:30 AM on Friday (September 18) in Mondori village of the upazila. The deceased, Jaydul Mia, was the son of Lokman Mia from the same village.

Tension prevails in the area following the incident. Additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain order.

Police stated that Jaydul Mia and his associates had a long-standing feud—involving land, property, and village dominance—with a group led by Abdul Majid and Sarwar from the same village. While Jaydul Mia was returning home from the local market, the group led by Abdul Majid and Sarwar intercepted him. Before he could realize what was happening, they brutally killed him by repeatedly hacking and stabbing him.

Locals later rescued him and rushed him to the District Sadar Modern Hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead.

Meanwhile, police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the news. Additional police personnel were deployed to keep the situation under control amidst the tension between the two factions. Violent clashes had previously occurred several times between the groups of Jaydul Mia and Majid Mia.

Regarding the matter, Sheikh Nazmul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baniyachong Police Station, said the situation in the area is currently normal. There was a long-standing dispute between them over land, property, and village dominance. The police are investigating the murder, and the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice.
