Dhaka //
Inkilab Mancha has announced a 36-day ‘March for Insaaf’ (March for Justice) program to demand justice, state accountability, and the realization of the aspirations of the July mass uprising. Starting on October 7, the program will commence at Banglabandha in Tetulia—the country’s northernmost point—and conclude at Zero Point in Teknaf—the southernmost point.
The program was announced yesterday, Monday (October 5), at an exchange meeting held at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah Hall of the National Press Club in the capital. Representatives from various political parties, social and cultural organizations, writers, activists, participants of the July mass uprising, and family members of martyrs attended the event.
Presided over by Inkilab Mancha Convener Abdullah Al Jaber, the meeting featured a keynote address by the organization’s Member Secretary, Fatema Tasnim Juma. It was announced that the 36-day program would involve direct engagement with the general public through marches, street-side meetings, and rallies across various parts of the country. Simultaneously, initiatives will be taken to build public opinion in favor of justice and a democratic state system.
As part of the program, Inkilab Mancha will march from North Bengal towards Dhaka and hold a rally on October 21 at the Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi Chattar in Shahbagh. Subsequently, the march will proceed towards the eastern region, ultimately concluding at Zero Point in Teknaf.
The three-point demands of the ‘March for Insaaf’ are:
1. Justice for the killing of martyr Sharif Osman Hadi must be ensured.
2. The ‘July Charter’ must be implemented in light of the public mandate derived from a referendum.
3. Justice must be ensured for the mass killings of July, Pilkhana, and Shapla.
Speakers at the meeting stated that ensuring an exemplary trial by bringing the actual perpetrators to justice—through a fair, impartial, and speedy investigation into the killing of Inkilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi—has now become a national demand. Speakers at the exchange meeting included Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, Secretary General of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party); Retired Colonel Hasinur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Azad Party; Shahin Ahmad Khan, Social Welfare Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; Ali Ahsan Junaid, Joint Convener of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP); Maulana Lokman Hossain Jafri, Office Secretary of Islami Andolan Bangladesh; Mohammad Faisal, Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish; Yusuf Ammar, Spokesperson for Bangladesh Green Party; poet Borhan Mahmud; cultural personality Asaduzzaman; Kabir Hossain, General Secretary of Sadharan Alem Samaj; Abdullah Al Shafil, a fighter who lost his eyesight during the July uprising; S.M. Farhad, General Secretary (GS) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU); and Naim Ahmad, Convener of JDP, among others.
Expressing full solidarity with the program, the leaders called upon people from all walks of life to participate in this quest for justice from their respective positions.
