A court has granted a 6-day remand to Awami League advisory council member and former minister Amir Hossain Amu in the murder case of a businessman named Abdul Wadud.
\nThe businessman was shot dead during a recent protest. On November 6, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) arrested Amir Hossain Amu from the capital’s Dhanmondi area.<\/p>\n
On Thursday (November 7), the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza’s court ordered the former minister Amu to be remanded after a hearing.<\/p>\n
The investigation officer of the case, Police Inspector Jahangir Arip of the DB Police’s Ramna Zonal Team, had applied for his 10-day remand. Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki conducted the hearing in favor of granting the remand. The defendant’s lawyer applied for bail, seeking cancellation of the remand. After the hearing, the court ordered the remand.<\/p>\n
It is known that businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead by police in the Nilkhet area under New Market police station on the afternoon of July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
