After US President Donald Trump announced the resumption of arms supplies to Ukraine, Russia is \u201cclosely monitoring\u201d the issue, the Kremlin said.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement that Moscow is closely monitoring the US arms aid and the recent course of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Peskov added that there are no plans for a new phone call between Trump and Putin yet, but if necessary, it can be arranged quickly.<\/p>\n
Just two days ago, President Trump gave his toughest message to Russia yet regarding the war in Ukraine. He said that Putin must accept a peace treaty within the next 50 days (early September) or the US will impose secondary tariffs on Russia.<\/p>\n
This will target Russia\u2019s trading partners. In Trump\u2019s words, this will isolate Russia from the global economy.<\/p>\n
Trump said at the press conference, “When I talk to Putin, he talks very nicely. But then he launches missile attacks every evening (in Ukraine).”<\/p>\n
He said that despite six phone calls and several meetings between representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the United States, there has been no progress on the ceasefire.<\/p>\n
According to analysts, despite Trump’s public threats, Russia is still sticking to its “keep calm and carry on” policy for the time being. According to them, it is still uncertain whether this pressure will force Putin to stop the war.<\/p>\n
