Minister for Local Government Affairs and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that before the 13th National Parliament elections, intellectuals had hyped the newspapers. In which Jamaat-e-Islam was coming to power. They could get the most votes. They even defeated me.<\/p>\n
He said, but the people were not wrong. They chose BNP, BNP wants to establish liberal democracy.<\/p>\n
He said these things at a discussion meeting organized by PIB on the occasion of the 45th death anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman on Thursday (June 4).<\/p>\n
Mirza Fakhrul said that Ziaur Rahman reconciled people of all parties and views. He did not want to make Bangladesh anyone’s enemy. Bangladesh still wants to remain outside of domination and free from anyone’s influence.<\/p>\n
He said that Ziaur Rahman made his existence known by protecting the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. The July Uprising has given Bangladesh an opportunity to start a new journey. Tarique Rahman is also walking in the path of Ziaur Rahman.<\/p>\n
