“Barely a month after the mass uprising,<\/p>\n
The Jamaat Amir granted a general amnesty to the Awami League! Essentially, he showed leniency toward the Awami League for the sake of electoral politics. This became a major obstacle to holding the Awami League accountable. Gradually, the Awami League became ‘normalized.’ Subsequently, Awami League leaders began claiming that if their members joined Jamaat, full responsibility for them would be assumed. Following this, Awami League members\u2014some openly and others covertly\u2014transformed into Jamaat members overnight!<\/p>\n
Due to Jamaat’s desire to gain power by tapping into the Awami League’s vote bank, Awami criminals were not properly brought to justice. And when crimes go unpunished, criminals become even more reckless. That reckless behavior was evident in the incident involving actress Azmeri Haque Badhon. The Awami League is simply waiting for an opportunity. No matter how much Jamaat tries to expand its vote bank by rehabilitating the Awami League, if the latter ever makes a comeback, they will exact revenge on Jamaat first. Therefore, I urge Jamaat and the NCP to stop rehabilitating Awami businessmen and leaders by accepting funds or Prado vehicles from them for long marches or political programs.<\/p>\n
The Awami League is an enemy of the nation; social and political unity is essential to try the party and its criminal members. Since the Jamaat Amir obstructed the path to justice by declaring a general amnesty for the Awami League immediately after the mass uprising, he should offer an unconditional apology to the nation in Parliament and propose a political consensus demanding the trial of the Awami League.” If the BNP government holds them accountable, yet secretly seeks to rehabilitate the Awami League for the sake of votes\u2014with Jamaat’s involvement\u2014then the Awami League will eventually make a comeback and regain relevance.<\/p>\n
