A major security breach has been reported just ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mumbai. Panic ensued among the police personnel responsible for security when two individuals, one carrying a gun, entered the venue designated for the Prime Minister’s event.<\/p>\n
Immediately following the incident, a high-security alert was issued for the area, and the police successfully detained both suspects.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at Jio World Plaza, near the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex. On Monday night, police were conducting a routine security drill in preparation for Modi’s arrival. During the drill, a 24-year-old man named Rohan Parekh, who was moving about suspiciously, and his armed security guard were detained.<\/p>\n
During initial questioning, Rohan claimed to be a senior official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). However, verification of the identity card he presented revealed it to be completely fake.<\/p>\n
A firearm was recovered from the detained individuals; it was later confirmed to be a licensed weapon. Nevertheless, the police are treating the attempt to enter such a high-security zone with a weapon\u2014while using a fake government ID\u2014as a serious matter.<\/p>\n
The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the investigation and is interrogating the two men to determine their motives. Police stated that law enforcement agencies successfully averted a potential major security risk ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled appearance at the ‘Global Fintech Fest 2026’ on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
