Police have recovered the mutilated body of an unidentified woman from a suitcase and a nearby floating jute sack in the Bhabanipur area of \u200b\u200bGazipur Sadar Upazila.<\/p>\n
The body parts were recovered on Friday afternoon (September 11) from an open space near Bhabanipur Memberbari Market, located on the western side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway. The incident has caused a stir in the area.<\/p>\n
According to police and local sources, locals spotted a suitcase floating in the water of a narrow canal beneath a bridge near Hamza Apparels Limited and alerted the police. Police subsequently arrived at the scene and retrieved the suitcase. Upon opening it, they discovered the lower half of an unidentified woman’s body.<\/p>\n
Shortly thereafter, another jute sack was spotted floating in the water nearby. Police recovered that sack as well; upon opening it, they found the remaining parts of the body, including the head.<\/p>\n
Locals stated that they initially approached the canal after seeing the suitcase floating. Upon spotting human legs inside, they informed the police. The sack floating nearby was also recovered later.<\/p>\n
Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joydebpur Police Station, stated that a portion of the woman’s body was recovered from a suitcase in the Bhabanipur area on Friday afternoon. Later, a jute sack floating in the nearby water was retrieved, containing the rest of the body. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased woman, and an investigation is proceeding to identify those involved in the incident.<\/p>\n
Police stated that the woman’s identity and the exact cause of death could not be immediately determined. Arrangements are being made to send the body for an autopsy. Whether this was a murder\u2014and where or how the woman was killed\u2014will be confirmed following the investigation.<\/p>\n
