Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman remarked that a harmful alien culture has taken a stranglehold on the nation. He stated, “Every nation possesses its own vibrant culture. In many respects, we have fallen behind in nurturing and upholding our own cultural identity. A detrimental culture has imposed itself upon us; in political science, this is termed ‘cultural hegemony.’ It is possible to ground the nation in a wholesome culture not merely through rhetoric, but through appropriate initiatives that foster its development.”<\/p>\n
He made these remarks on Friday at the prize-giving ceremony of a *Naat-e-Rasul* (PBUH) competition organized by the ‘Deshiyo Sanskritik Sangsad’ (Indigenous Cultural Council) at the National Museum’s main auditorium. The Jamaat Amir believes that cultural degradation is leading to chaos within society.<\/p>\n
Shafiqur Rahman said, “We should respect those from whom we learn. But what is our culture teaching us now? Dragging a college principal and throwing him into a pond\u2014this scene is a result of that harmful culture. To raise children into proper human beings, we must practice a wholesome culture.”<\/p>\n
Other speakers at the event included Jamaat Executive Council member Motiur Rahman Akand, writer and editor Abul Asad, Dhaka Metropolitan South Amir Nurul Islam Bulbul, and Chhatra Shibir President Nurul Islam Saddam.<\/p>\n
Shibir\u2019s \u2018Road to Seerah\u2019
\nChhatra Shibir\u2019s \u2018Road to Seerah-2026\u2019 competition concluded with the participation of 13,000 students. Organized by the organization to mark *Seerat-un-Nabi* (PBUH), the closing and prize-giving ceremony was held on Friday at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the capital.<\/p>\n
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman attended as the chief guest at the event, which was presided over by Shibir President Nurul Islam and moderated by Secretary General Sibgatullah Sibga.<\/p>\n
Also present were Islamic scholar Allama Kamal Uddin Abdullah Jafri, former Principal of Tamirul Millat Madrasa Maulana Zainul Abedin, Opposition Whip Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, and former Vice-Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University Professor Shamsul Alam, among others. According to the organizers, Khadija Tuban Shara, a student from the Barishal Division, secured first place in Group ‘A’ of the \u2018Road to Seerah-26\u2019 competition; she received an educational scholarship of Tk 60,000 in cash, along with books, a crest, and a certificate. Raisul Islam from the Dhaka Division took first place in Group ‘B’, while Atiya Bilkis Tamanna from the Rajshahi Division secured the top spot in Group ‘C’; these winners will be given the opportunity to perform Umrah. Runners-up (second place) were awarded laptops, and those in third place received educational scholarships of Tk 25,000 each. Participants ranking fourth through tenth across the three groups received Tk 15,000 each, while those ranking eleventh through twenty-fifth received Tk 10,000 each, along with crests and certificates.<\/p>\n
Addressing the participants, Shafiqur Rahman remarked that their hearts had been illuminated by the light of divine guidance through the study of the Prophet\u2019s (PBUH) life. He urged them not to let their participation be limited merely to obtaining worldly rewards or certificates.<\/p>\n
