Two Assistant Commissioners (Land)\u2014AC-Lands\u2014serving the Fatullah and Siddhirganj revenue circles in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila have been transferred. Among them, Debjani Kar of the Siddhirganj revenue circle has been transferred to Khulna, and Ongmaching Marma of the Fatullah revenue circle to Chattogram.<\/p>\n
Zakia Sarwar Lima, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Narayanganj, confirmed the matter on Friday.<\/p>\n
Ongmaching Marma had previously been issued a show-cause notice for failing to be present at the office during scheduled hours. On the morning of August 31, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, the State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, conducted a surprise inspection of the Sadar Upazila Land Office located in the Khanpur area of \u200b\u200bNarayanganj city. The offices of the Fatullah and Siddhirganj revenue circles are also situated in the same area, alongside the office of the Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner.<\/p>\n
The State Minister arrived a few minutes before 9:00 AM. However, several officials and employees were not at their workstations even after office hours had commenced. He examined the attendance register during the visit. Allegations arose regarding the absence of certain staff members and the practice of signing the attendance register in advance without actually being present at work. Instructions were issued to the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter and take necessary action against those involved. Subsequently, show-cause notices were issued to 18 officials and employees across the Sadar, Fatullah, and Siddhirganj revenue circles. No decision has yet been reached regarding 16 of them, including Sadia Akter, the AC-Land of Narayanganj Sadar.<\/p>\n
Regarding the transfer, Debjani Kar, the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of the Siddhirganj land office, stated, “I was on leave due to illness on the day of the incident. The Deputy Commissioner was aware of this. It is true that I have been transferred, but this is not a punitive transfer.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a list is being prepared of officials and employees who have been working in the same office for more than three years. The district administration has indicated that action will be taken against them as well in the future.<\/p>\n
Deputy Commissioner Raihan Kabir stated that show-cause notices had been issued to three AC-Lands. Among them, the allegations against the Fatullah AC-Land were substantiated; consequently, she has been transferred. The AC (Land) of Siddhirganj was on leave that day; his replacement is part of the standard procedure. No decision has been reached yet regarding the AC (Land) of Sadar; that decision will come from the Ministry. We are investigating the cases of the remaining 15 officials and staff members, and a decision regarding them will be made within this week.<\/p>\n
