Among the three newly deceased, two were from the Dhaka division and one was from the Chattogram division. The DGHS has been publishing data on infections, hospital admissions, and deaths related to measles and measles-like symptoms since March 15.

Highest death toll in Dhaka
According to DGHS data, the highest number of deaths associated with measles symptoms occurred in the Dhaka division, totaling 415 so far. The Sylhet division recorded the second-highest number of deaths at 157. Of these, 145,252 patients have received treatment and been discharged.

According to DGHS figures, the total number of patients visiting hospitals with measles symptoms stands at 171,543. Among them, measles was confirmed in 20,069 cases through testing.

The DGHS stated that not all patients arriving at hospitals with measles symptoms undergo testing. Similarly, it is not possible to test every symptomatic patient outside of hospitals for measles. Consequently, the number of confirmed cases cannot determine the actual number of people infected with measles in the country. Therefore, while the official count of confirmed cases is 20,069, the actual number of infections is likely higher.

Read the news and share your opinion.

Special Correspondent // File photo.
