Four people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a private car on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Gazaria, Munshiganj. The Fire Service reported that one of the injured is in critical condition.<\/p>\n
The accident occurred around 2:45 PM on Saturday in the Chattogram-bound lane of the highway.<\/p>\n
The deceased have been identified as Mujibur Rahman (55), Mst. Shamima Akter (45), Sabiha Chowdhury (43), and the private car’s driver, Sohel. They were reportedly residents of the Gendaria area in Dhaka.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, stated that upon receiving news of the collision near Jamaldi Bus Stand at 2:38 PM, two rescue units from the Gazaria Fire Station arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations.<\/p>\n
According to the Fire Service, a Chattogram-bound passenger bus belonging to ‘New Baleshwar Paribahan’ collided with a Dhaka-bound private car. There were five people, including the driver, inside the private car; they were heading towards Dhaka after having a meal at ‘Miami Restaurant’.<\/p>\n
Fire Service personnel recovered the driver’s body from the car and handed it over to the highway police. Four injured individuals were taken to the hospital, where the attending physician declared three of them dead. The remaining person was sent to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Md. Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gazaria Highway Police Station, confirmed that four of the five occupants of the private car\u2014including the driver\u2014died in the accident. Traffic was disrupted for a while as the bus overturned on the highway following the collision, but it was later restored through police efforts.<\/p>\n
