Representative image. Police have recovered three unidentified bodies from the beach in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, within a single day. The bodies were retrieved yesterday, Wednesday, between 11:30 AM and 2:45 PM from the Madarbunia and Monkhali areas of Jaliapalong Union in Ukhia.<\/p>\n
Atiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia Police Station, stated that the recovered bodies have been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsies.<\/p>\n
According to police sources, locals spotted a body lying on the beach around 11:30 AM today, approximately 400 yards south of the Madarbunia boat ghat in Ward No. 8 of Jaliapalong Union. They subsequently informed the In-charge of the Inani Police Outpost. Upon receiving the information, the police recovered the body from the scene. Later, around 2:45 PM, two additional bodies were recovered from the beach in the Monkhali area (Ward No. 9) of the same union. Police have also prepared inquest reports for these two bodies.<\/p>\n
Police stated that it has not yet been possible to identify any of the three recovered individuals. Last Monday, a trawler carrying Rohingya refugees capsized in the waters off Teknaf. While the Coast Guard rescued 17 people alive in that incident, several others remain missing.<\/p>\n
Ukhia Police Station OC Atiqur Rahman said, “The identities of the three bodies recovered from the beach have not yet been established. We are verifying whether any of these bodies belong to the individuals missing from the trawler capsize incident in Teknaf. Necessary procedures to identify them are underway.”<\/p>\n
He added that further action would be taken following legal protocols once the bodies are identified.<\/p>\n
