BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has urged opposition political parties not to give any leeway or indulgence to the defeated forces of the 2024 mass uprising. He alleged that attempts are being made to rehabilitate these politically defeated forces by creating an unstable situation in the country. He made these remarks on Friday afternoon while addressing a rally\u2014held prior to a protest procession organized by Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and Swechchhasebak Dal\u2014in front of the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan.<\/p>\n
Rizvi stated that the defeated forces of the 2024 mass uprising are attempting to destabilize the country in various ways. Incidents of violence and sabotage are being orchestrated as part of a strategy to create instability and unsettle the political climate.<\/p>\n
He alleged that these conspiracies aim to politically rehabilitate the ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and restore the previous political order. He asserted that no malicious attempt to undermine the political transformation achieved through the 2024 mass uprising would be allowed to succeed.<\/p>\n
Urging political parties to play a responsible role in safeguarding the country’s democracy, independence, and sovereignty, Rizvi said that the defeated forces have no right to conduct activities on the streets; however, all other political parties possess the full right to hold rallies.<\/p>\n
Issuing a note of caution to opposition parties, he remarked that carrying out political programs and criticizing the government are democratic rights. However, actions that could provide an opportunity for the defeated forces to reorganize politically must be avoided. While political parties may have differences of opinion, everyone must remain united and vigilant regarding the country’s independence, sovereignty, and democratic environment.<\/p>\n
Citing recent incidents such as bus arsons, explosions, and bomb attacks, the BNP Acting Secretary General described them as calculated attempts to disrupt the country’s peaceful atmosphere for political gain. He called for building political and social resistance against such nefarious activities. Highlighting the long-standing erosion of democratic institutions and rights, he stated that the country’s independence and sovereignty must not be allowed to weaken further. Ensuring the people’s voting rights and a democratic environment is the primary responsibility of political parties.<\/p>\n
Discussing the current government and the global context, Rizvi noted that Tarique Rahman became Prime Minister after winning the peaceful election held following Sheikh Hasina’s flight amidst a massive student-led mass uprising. He is actively working towards the country’s peace and security. It is precisely because the government led by Tarique Rahman has fostered a democratic atmosphere that opposition parties are able to hold various programs, protests, and processions without hindrance.<\/p>\n
Mentioning Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s participation in the 81st UN General Assembly, Rizvi stated that the Prime Minister attended the session leading a 35-member delegation. In his address to the UN, the Prime Minister declared, “Not death, not weapons\u2014diplomacy, education, and peace shall be the instruments of change.”<\/p>\n
He further added that Bangladesh respects the independence and sovereignty of all nations. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reaffirmed Bangladesh’s steadfast support for the rights of the Palestinian people and their right to an independent state. Simultaneously, he called upon world leaders to facilitate the repatriation of Rohingyas sheltered in Bangladesh to their homeland with dignity. The Prime Minister’s statement at the UN reflects the aspirations of peace-loving and democracy-loving people across the globe.<\/p>\n
Presided over by S.M. Jilani, President of the Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, the rally was addressed by Jubo Dal central leaders Rezaul Kabir Pol, Billal Hossain Tarek, Ziaur Rahman Zia, Jahangir Alam Dulal, Kamruzzaman Jewel, and Nurul Islam Sohel; Swechchhasebak Dal\u2019s Nazmul Hasan; and Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib, along with Shyamal Malum and Aman Ullah Aman, among others.<\/p>\n
Leaders and activists at various levels from Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and Swechchhasebak Dal participated in the rally. Following the event, a procession was brought out from Nayapaltan to protest against attempts to incite instability. Earlier, following Friday prayers, a protest procession was held in the Baitul Mukarram area under the initiative of Ulama Dal. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi delivered a speech there.<\/p>\n
