Ariful Haque Chowdhury MP, Minister of Labour and Employment as well as Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, announced that a special task force\u2014comprising all relevant stakeholders\u2014has been formed to bring drug trafficking and smuggling across the border under complete control. The Deputy Commissioner will soon make a formal announcement regarding the formation of this task force.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks yesterday (Sunday) afternoon while addressing a meeting with local party leaders and activists at the Moulvibazar Circuit House.<\/p>\n
The Minister stated that the government and party members would work together to transform Moulvibazar district into a drug-free, exemplary model district by maintaining law and order and eradicating extortion and terrorism.<\/p>\n
Regarding the role of the media, he urged journalists to prioritize public and national interests when reporting. He advised them to convey information to the appropriate authorities through their own sources rather than publishing it prematurely, ensuring that criminals do not get tipped off in advance. He expressed optimism that such criminal activities in society could be curbed through the active participation and involvement of the public.
\nWhen participants raised questions about the legal proceedings following the handover of drug dealers and criminals to the police, the Minister explained that the law and the court’s jurisdiction operate according to specific government rules and regulations. He assured that the matter would be conveyed to the relevant government authorities through the proper channels. All those present at the meeting expressed a firm resolve to build Moulvibazar into a safe and orderly district in the future.<\/p>\n
Presided over by Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Touhiduzzaman Pavel, the meeting was also addressed by, among others, Moulvibazar-1 MP Nasir Uddin Mitu, Moulvibazar-4 MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Md. Monirul Islam, and District BNP Convener Md. …Fayzul Karim Mayun, Member Secretary Abdur Rahim Ripon, Zila Parishad Administrator Mizanur Rahman Mizan, along with officials from various government departments and the district administration at all levels.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the tourist attractions in the greater Sylhet region, including Moulvibazar, the Minister remarked that these areas are rich in natural beauty and hold immense potential. However, he emphasized that improving transportation networks and ensuring security are prerequisites for the sector’s genuine development. He stated that the current government is working sincerely to create a tourism-friendly environment and enhance infrastructure.
\nThe Minister further noted that maintaining order at tourist sites and ensuring comprehensive facilities for visitors would lead to greater economic prosperity in the sector. He expressed optimism that, through the dedicated efforts of the local administration and all stakeholders, a sustainable, tourism-friendly environment would be established across the entire region, including Moulvibazar.<\/p>\n
