The Prime Minister has given the decision in principle to declare Thursday, October 22, a government holiday via an executive order. Consequently, government officials and employees will enjoy a continuous five-day break from October 20 to October 24. The Prime Minister&#8217;s Office confirmed this information on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With this extension, government employees will not need to apply for separate leave for the Durga Puja period. However, not all types of services and institutions will fall under the scope of this holiday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the government holiday calendar, October 20 (Tuesday) is an executive-order holiday for Mahanabami, and October 21 (Wednesday) is a general holiday for Bijoya Dashami. Thursday, October 22, has now also been declared a government holiday by executive order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The following two days\u2014October 23 and 24\u2014are Friday and Saturday, respectively. Since these are weekly holidays, the government break will span five consecutive days, from Tuesday, October 20, to Saturday, October 24.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a result, government employees will not need to take separate leave for Durga Puja this year; the holiday period will begin on Tuesday and conclude on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mahalaya falls on October 10 this year. Subsequently, Maha Shasthi will be observed on October 16, Maha Saptami on October 18, Maha Ashtami on October 19, Maha Nabami on October 20, and Bijoya Dashami on October 21.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to institutions covered by the government holiday schedule, the holiday will also impact banks, financial institutions, and other entities in accordance with relevant regulations. However, personnel involved in emergency and essential services must continue to perform their duties as directed by the respective authorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices will remain closed during this special holiday announced by the government. However, certain sectors will be exempted from the holiday to maintain essential services and serve the public interest.
