Agriculture and Fisheries & Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid stated that 4.3 million farmers will receive ‘Farmer Cards’ this year. Additionally, on the inaugural day of the pilot phase, 100,047 farmers will receive incentive funds for agricultural inputs via the Farmer Card.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks while briefing journalists on Wednesday (September 30) after inspecting the venue at the Phulgazi Government Pilot High School grounds in Feni district. The venue was prepared for the event distributing ‘Family Cards’ and ‘Farmer Cards,’ as well as honorariums for mosque imams, temple priests, and personnel from other religious places of worship.<\/p>\n
The Minister explained that following the successful completion of the pre-pilot phase, work began on creating a database for 4.3 million farmers for the pilot phase this year. In the first phase, 110,165 farmers are being brought under the Farmer Card scheme. Of these, 100,047 farmers will receive Tk 2,500 each for agricultural inputs starting tomorrow (October 1). In Feni district alone, 7,643 farmers will receive printed copies of the Farmer Card.<\/p>\n
He noted that 77 upazilas across 56 districts of the country would be connected to tomorrow’s event; there will be a direct live link with 13 upazilas, while the remaining 64 upazilas will also participate.<\/p>\n
The Minister further stated that the government plans to distribute Farmer Cards to all farmers across the country within the next two and a half to three years.<\/p>\n
He highlighted that the Farmer Card program aims to assist farmers in purchasing agricultural inputs and to ensure that government support for the agricultural sector reaches them more easily.<\/p>\n
Regarding preparations for the event, the Minister said that necessary arrangements have been made in coordination with the local administration and officials from relevant departments. He described the overall preparations as satisfactory and noted that everyone involved is working to ensure the event concludes smoothly.<\/p>\n
Agriculture Secretary Salim Khan, Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension Abdur Rahim, Feni Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Karim, and other officials from relevant ministries and departments were present on the occasion.<\/p>\n
