State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir emphasized the need for the early signing of an economic partnership agreement, increased investment, and expanded training opportunities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday (October 2) stated that State Minister Humayun Kabir held separate meetings with South Korea\u2019s First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yun-ju and Vice Minister of National Defense Lee Doo-hee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the meeting with Park Yun-ju, State Minister Humayun Kabir handed over an invitation letter from Prime Minister Tareq Rahman to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, inviting him to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He expressed Bangladesh&#8217;s readiness to work closely with the Korean government to deepen long-standing friendly relations. He also appreciated the progress made regarding the Bangladesh-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and expressed hope for its early signing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The State Minister called for boosting bilateral trade, securing greater market access for Bangladeshi products, and increasing Korean investment in sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, shipbuilding, light engineering, high-end ready-made garments, ICT, and other technology-driven industries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also highlighted various opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, logistics, digital transformation, skills development, and the service sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Humayun Kabir sought Korea&#8217;s cooperation in further expanding employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled Bangladeshi workers through the Employment Permit System (EPS).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Commending Korea&#8217;s role as a development partner, he called for enhanced cooperation in areas such as climate resilience, infrastructure, human resource development, technical and vocational education, and digital technology. Commending Korea&#8217;s transformation into a global economic and technological leader, he noted that the country&#8217;s development experience continues to inspire Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The State Minister expressed satisfaction with the regular Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) and other high-level exchanges, while reiterating Bangladesh&#8217;s support for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He thanked Korea for providing humanitarian assistance to the Rohingyas and sought continued cooperation for their speedy and sustainable repatriation to Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on various regional and international issues and reaffirmed the importance of cooperation in multilateral forums.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a separate meeting with Deputy Minister of Defense Lee Doo-hee, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defense ties through training, capacity building, UN peacekeeping operations, and cooperation in the defense industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Appreciating Korea&#8217;s assistance in training members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, police, and civil defense, Humayun Kabir requested an expansion of specialized training opportunities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also urged the Korean side to send military personnel to participate in specialized courses offered by the Bangladesh Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The State Minister informed the Korean side that Bangladesh is in the process of establishing a defense industrial zone and invited them to explore investment opportunities to advance technological and industrial cooperation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Korean side welcomed the interest in strengthening defense ties with Bangladesh and expressed readiness to explore greater cooperation in mutually agreed areas, including training, capacity building, and peacekeeping operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BSS \/\/ Bangladesh has called for further strengthening economic and defense cooperation with South Korea during separate ministerial-level meetings in Seoul.
