BGB arrested 16 people while trying to escape to India illegally through Biral border area of Dinajpur. The arrested have been handed over to the police station.
They were arrested from the area adjacent to sub (S) pillar 3 of Bangladesh-India 331 main pillar in Khopragram area of Kishoriganj BOP No. 6 Bhandara Union of Biral Upazila at around 2:15 AM on Sunday.
Among those arrested are 8 men, 4 women and 4 children. All their homes are in Birol, Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur district and Syedpur thana of Nilphamari district.
The detainees came to India illegally in the dark of night through a ring of brokers. On receiving the news, BGB conducted a raid under the leadership of Company Commander Subedar Rafiqul Islam of Kishoreganj Company and arrested them.
42 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Md. Ahsan Ul Islam said that 16 people of different ages were arrested from Nilphamari and Dinajpur districts while crossing the border illegally. They have been handed over to Birol police station in Dinajpur district.
Birol Police Station OC Golam Mawla Shah said that BGB has filed a case as the plaintiff for the crime of illegal intrusion. The process of sending the arrested to court is ongoing.
