Efforts are on to bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country: Foreign Adviser

The foreign adviser of the interim government. Tauhid Hossain said that there are accusations of mega corruption in the mega project besides ordering indiscriminate killings in the anti-discrimination student movement against the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Stating that efforts are being made to bring him back to the country for trial in these incidents, the foreign adviser said, “We will take necessary measures to bring him back.”

He spoke about this in a briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (October 17). He said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take necessary measures to bring Sheikh Hasina back.”

The journalists want to know from the adviser that the International Criminal Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina. What is the position of the interim government regarding his return? In response, advisor Touhid Hossain said, I came to know the news five minutes ago. We will definitely take necessary action. The court gave one month time. We will definitely do whatever it takes to bring him back in the meantime.

When asked by what process Sheikh Hasina will be brought back, he said, how it will be brought back is not important. Importantly, the court asked him to be arrested. The warrant did not come to me, it came to the police. But the police cannot do that, because he is not in the country. Will see when it comes to us.

He also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is trying to find out the whereabouts of the 40-45 people for whom arrest warrants have been issued.

When asked about the status (category) of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India, the foreign adviser said that the news has just arrived. I might get an update in the future. Maybe I can tell you the details.

He also talked about bringing back the Bangladeshis stuck in Lebanon. The foreign affairs adviser said that there is a shortage of sufficient planes to return Bangladeshis from Lebanon. In this situation, the government is thinking of returning Bangladeshis by sea in addition to air.

It should be noted that the International Criminal Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He has been ordered to be arrested and produced before this tribunal by November 18.
