Kishoreganj District Awami League General Secretary MA Afzal along with three party leaders have been arrested. The joint forces arrested them today Wednesday morning and early morning.

The other two arrested are Tarail Upazila Awami League President Azizul Haque and General Secretary Gias Uddin (Lucky).

According to police and local sources, RAB arrested MA Afzal from his house in the district town around 9 am today. There is a case against him in the Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station for attacking the anti-discrimination student movement. Inspector (Investigation) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station Shyamal Mia confirmed the matter and said that joint forces arrested District Awami League General Secretary MA Afzal in the morning.

On the other hand, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tarail Police Station Mohammad Sohail said that in a case of Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station, Upazila Awami League President Azizul Haque was arrested from Kalma village of Dhala Union and General Secretary Gias Uddin from Kalna village of Tarail-Sachail Union in a joint operation.

On August 4, an anti-discrimination student movement was attacked in Khampatti area of ​​Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila. In that incident, a person named Matiur Rahman filed a case at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station as a plaintiff on August 30.

According to the statement of the case, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on August 4, district Awami League General Secretary MA Afzal along with other accused with weapons like Da, Ramda, Kirich, Ballam, rod, hockey stick, petrol bomb, cocktail, pipe gun, pistol etc. Students attacked the procession. The plaintiff (Mashiur Rahman) ran for his life and took shelter in a neighboring house. The accused chased and set the house on fire. Others including the plaintiff fled from there. Two occupants of that house died in the fire.
