Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been banned from entering Israel for failing to “unequivocally condemn” Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
In the immediate aftermath of the Iranian attack, Guterres condemned the escalation of violence in the region but did not mention Iran by name.
In a statement, Katz said that anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attacks on Israel is not fit to set foot on Israeli soil.
He said, through this, the anti-Israel Secretary General supports terrorists, rapists and murderers.
Iran launched about 200 missiles on Tuesday. Tehran said the attack was in response to an attack on Hamas in Gaza and an attack on Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon.
Earlier, Israel started a ground operation on the Lebanese border. Hezbollah’s media chief Mohammad Afif said on Wednesday that they have enough fighters, weapons and ammunition to drive Israel from the border.
He said this while talking to journalists in an area affected by Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon.
