His Excellency’s court has given death sentence to 5 people in Sylhet gas powered CNG auto rickshaw driver’s murder case. Judge Shayla Sharmin of Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-4 gave the sentence on Thursday (October 3) afternoon.

The convicted accused are Shahidul Islam (21) son of Roshan Ali of Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj district, Suman Ahmad (19) son of Badsha Mia of South Sunamganj, Shipu Mia (19) son of Fazil Bari, Zakaria Munna (20) son of Haji Musuk Mia and Hormuz Ali. Md. Ruhal Amin (20).

The defendant’s lawyer Zayda Begum said that the defendants are on the run after taking the mysterious but true testimony. At the time, he said, the court executed the death sentence after ten long years after the testimony of 12 people.

According to the case details, on August 17, 2024, a gas-powered auto-rickshaw with CNG went from Sylhet to Biyanibazar upazila with driver Hazrat Ali. At around 11 o’clock at night, the killers stabbed Hazrat and escaped with an autorickshaw. The next day, the victim’s brother Sukkar Ali filed a murder case at the Biyanibazar police station. Then 17 injury marks were found on the deceased’s body. He died of excessive bleeding. Finally, after ten long years, the court judge gave the death sentence against 5 people.

Although Hazrat Ali’s house is in Jahangir Nagar village of Sunamganj Sadar Police Station, he was living in Alampur area of ​​South Surma Police Station for a long time.

Meanwhile, Sukkur Ali, the brother of the deceased, expressed his satisfaction with the verdict of the case. He demanded immediate arrest and execution of the accused.

State counsel Abdus Sattar APP said this verdict will be a milestone for Sylhet. The learned Court gave this judgment after the conviction after arguments. We are satisfied with this verdict.

Additional PP Dina Yasmin, a lawyer for the state, said that we would like to quickly arrest the absconding accused and execute the judgment.
