Due to extension of one day holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Sanatan religions, the country is going on a four-day holiday, combining Durga Puja and weekend. Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, gave this information at Dhakeshwari temple in the capital on Tuesday (October 8).
He said, the puja holiday will be extended by one day. Thursday will also be a holiday for worship. Notification will be given today.
Mahfuz Alam said, for a long time, the Sanatan religious people have been demanding to extend the holiday of Durga Puja. They celebrate Ananda from Shashti to Dasami. This time Friday-Saturday falls before the tenth day of Durga Puja. So we thought we will extend the holiday by one day. So that they get a big time to celebrate Puja.
According to the government holiday calendar, next Friday and Saturday on October 11 and 12 are weekend holidays. And October 13 Sunday is a holiday for worship. As such, if Thursday’s holiday is added, the government employees are getting a total of four days off together with Durga Puja and weekly public holidays.
