Eight people, including four children, were killed when a private car fell into a canal in Kadamtala area of Pirojpur Sadar. The accident took place at Noorani Gate area of Nazirpur road of Sadar Upazila at 2.30 pm on Wednesday (October 9). Among the dead are four members of the same family. They are Motahar (45), his wife Sabina (36), their daughter Mukta (10) and son Shoaib (2).
Talha bin Jaseem, media cell officer of fire service, confirmed the matter and said that a private car lost control and fell into the canal in Pirojpur’s Kadamtala market around 2 o’clock on Wednesday, killing a total of 8 people, including four children.
Jasim also said that the fire service received information about the car falling into the canal at 2:30 on Wednesday night. After that, a unit of Pirojpur fire station reached the spot around 2.30 am and started the rescue operation. After a while another unit joined there. A total of 8 bodies were recovered from the car. All occupants of the vehicle are believed to have died.
Pirojpur Additional Superintendent of Police Mukit Hasan said that the private car lost control and fell into the canal, killing 8 people in the car. National identity card of Abdul Motaleb was found in the car among the dead. The addresses of others are being sought on that basis.
