The International Criminal Tribunal will begin on October 17 to try the charges of genocide organized by the anti-discrimination student movement.

After the courtesy meeting with the judges of the tribunal on Tuesday, Chief Prosecutor Md. Tajul Islam informed this information.
Tajul Islam said, tomorrow, Wednesday (October 16), judges will be welcomed in the courtroom of the tribunal. Then on Thursday, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Md. A three-judge bench headed by Ghulam Mortuza Majumder will sit in the Ejalas. The trial will start from that day.

He also said that on Thursday I will make some necessary applications on behalf of the prosecution.
Earlier, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder and two members, Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired District and Sessions Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

On October 14, the Ministry of Law issued a notification appointing High Court Judge Golam Mortuza Majumder as the chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal.

The notification, signed by Law Secretary Sheikh Abu Taher, states that by virtue of Section 6 of the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act, 1973 (Act No. 21 of 1973), Judge Ghulam Mortuza Majumder of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court has been appointed as the Chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal and a Judge of the High Court Division. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired District and Sessions Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury were appointed as members of the tribunal.
