BNP leaders and activists clashed with Jubo League leaders and activists over the control of fake business in a garment factory in Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka. Joint forces arrested three people in this incident.
According to some local residents and Ashulia Thana-Police sources, when the Awami League government was in power, Ashulia Thana Jubo League convenor Kabir Hossain Sarkar and his leaders and workers used to control the Jhoot business at The Rose Dresses Limited factory in Jamgra area of Ashulia. After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, Kabir Hossain’s people controlled the business with the support of a party of the local BNP. Around nine o’clock yesterday morning, Ashulia Thana BNP Publicity Secretary Anwar Hossain, Dhaka District Chhatra Dal former Vice President Mostafizur Rahman along with some BNP leaders and workers went to take control of the Jhoot business in front of the factory. At that time, Kabir Hossain’s people arrived there with firearms and domestic sharp weapons. Later, there was a back and forth between the two sides. In this incident, the joint forces arrested three people.
BNP leader Anwar Hossain said, ‘Kabir Hossain used to control the fraud business of that garment factory before August 5. More than 25 cases of killing students have been registered against him. We went to the front of the factory yesterday to talk to the authorities. At that time, about 100 to 150 people including Arif Madbar, Ratan, Tanveer, Galkata Jewel, Hannan, Parvez of Awami League fired at us with firearms and indigenous weapons. At this time we go to a safe place.
However, Ashulia Thana BNP General Secretary Abdul Gafur Mia told the media, “I have heard that some leaders and workers of BNP had a problem with the leaders and workers of Jubo League leader Kabir Hossain over fake business. There are strict instructions from the party not to engage in any kind of illegal activities including taking over fake business. The matter will be looked into and action will be taken.
However, as Kabir Hossain was absconding, it was not possible to contact him. Apart from this, when he called his mobile several times, it was found to be switched off.
Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Ashulia police station, said that BNP leaders and activists chased each other with the leaders and activists of Jubo League, focusing on the control of fake business. The shooting is not known. Three people have already been arrested in this incident. Efforts are on to bring the rest of those involved to justice.
