Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman urged the interim government to bring the market situation under control by breaking the syndicate. He said, for this, if necessary, the size of the advisory council can be increased.

Tariq Rahman made this call by joining the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the silver jubilee of Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF). He joined virtually from London in the discussion meeting organized at Ramner Engineers Institution Auditorium this Friday afternoon. At that time his wife Jobaida Rahman was by his side.

Addressing the interim government, Tariq Rahman said, “Though the price of goods has increased, people’s income has not increased as much.” Take more practical and strict steps on priority basis to control prices.” He further said that the task of breaking the mafia market syndicates over the years and bringing the situation under control may be a little difficult, but not impossible. The size of the advisory council can be increased if necessary.
Advising the government to be careful, the Acting Chairman of BNP said, ‘No initiative will be fruitful by placing fascist idealists or beneficiaries of the mafia government in important positions. If the government fails to alleviate the suffering of the people at home and abroad by any means, then the beneficiaries of the runaway dictatorship will take advantage of the situation. People have regained their freedom of speech and individual freedom after the mafia leaders fled the country for genocide. People now want freedom from the curse of bad governance, freedom from discrimination.

Commenting that the beneficiaries of the fallen dictatorship are raising their heads from home and outside, Tariq Rahman said that the beneficiaries of the mafia chief are trying to make the interim government fail. The conspiracy is trying to spread.

Tariq Rahman said that two and a half months may not be enough time to remove the mess of dictatorship and return the state to the expected path of the people. However, two and a half months is not less time for the interim government to determine the tasks and priorities. The incoherence in some areas within the government began to become apparent to the people who had succeeded in the popular uprising.
The Acting Chairman of BNP said that different statements have been received from different levels of the government regarding the possible timing of the national elections. The inconsistency of the Interim Government’s statement on such an important issue raises various doubts in the minds of the people. People want to see the interim government in a more responsible and people-oriented role.

Regarding reforms, Tariq Rahman said that reforms are very necessary and important. But reform is a continuous and ongoing process and sometimes it takes time. Without direct participation of the people in any reform process, the reform will not yield the desired results in the end.

BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moin Khan was the chief guest in the discussion meeting. A ZM Zahid Hossain, member of the standing committee, international security analyst M Shahiduzzaman, former ambassador SM Rashed Ahmed and others also spoke at the discussion meeting moderated by the member secretary of the Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee Morshed Hasan Khan. In the meeting, the families of 10 martyrs and 10 injured in the anti-discrimination movement last July-August were honoured. The meeting was attended by academicians, journalists, engineers and other professionals.
