A student can participate maximum three times in BCS. The decision was taken at the Interim Government Advisory Council meeting on Thursday (October 24). At the same time, the age limit for applying for government jobs has been increased to 32 years. Later, in a notification, the Cabinet Department gave this information.
It is said that, in the light of an ordinance, section 59 of the ‘Government Employment Act, 2018’, the Ministry of Public Administration empowered to restructure the ‘Bangladesh Civil Service (Age, Qualification and Examination for Direct Recruitment) Rules, 2014’ restructured a candidate in the Bangladesh Civil Service Examination. Can be landed three times, rules will be added.
1. The maximum age limit for entry into the service of all cadres of Bangladesh Civil Service will be fixed at 32 years.
2. The maximum age limit for entering all government jobs outside the scope of Bangladesh Civil Service will be 32 years.
3. In case of autonomous, semi-autonomous organizations the respective recruitment rules will be applicable subject to necessary adaptations.
4. The respective recruitment rules shall remain in force in the case of Defense Services and Law Enforcement Forces.
Earlier, the review committee in this regard had recommended that the upper age limit for entry into government service be 35 years for men and 37 years for women. But they did not say anything about the retirement age.
On September 30, the government formed a committee to review the demand for increasing the age limit for entry into employment. Former secretary Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, who heads the Public Administration Reform Commission, was made the head of this committee.
At present the general age of entry into government service is 30 years. However, the maximum age limit for applying for Freedom Fighter’s Child Quota is 32 years. A group of job aspirants had been agitating for a long time to raise the age limit for entry into employment to 35 years.
