A clash between two (Zubair-Saad) groups took place over the capture of the Markaz Mosque in Natore. At least 30 people were injured.

The clash started around 12 noon on Thursday. Traffic on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway was stopped for about an hour. On receiving the information, the army and army personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

According to local sources, after the fall of the government, the people of Zubair’s faction took over Tebaria Markaz mosque in the suburb of Nator. Later, when a communal madrasa was established there, some students stayed there. Later, the matter was not settled as there was no District Commissioner.

At one point on Thursday morning, the people of the pro-Sad Tabligh Jamaat took a stand at Tebaria Markaz Mosque in preparation for organizing “Tabligh Ijtema”.

At that time, when the two sides started arguing, a conflict arose at one stage. At that time, when they took a position on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway, traffic stopped on the highway for about an hour. This causes long time traffic jam.

On receiving the information, the police and army personnel came and calmed down the two sides and brought the situation under control. Currently, there is tension all over the area.

Mahabur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Natore Sadar police station, said that after receiving the information, the members of the law and order forces went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Many people were injured in this incident.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Arif Hossain said that the issue will be discussed next Sunday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office with both parties. If necessary, section 144 will be issued in that area.
