‘Politicians are eager to come to power’ BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly criticized the statement of Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and Road Transport and Bridges. Pointing to this statement, Mirza Fakhrul said, we want to come to power, that is why we are doing politics.

He said this at a discussion organized on the occasion of the 5th death anniversary of former BNP Vice Chairman and freedom fighter Sadeq Hossain Khoka at the Bangladesh Engineers Institute on Sunday (November 3) afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said, an advisor has commented that politicians are eager to come to power. This is very unfortunate. We do not expect him to make such comments. We want quick elections, because the longer you delay, the Hasinas will return. We are cooperating, you too will cooperate. We want to come to power, that’s why we are doing politics.

Addressing journalists, he further said, “We have been freed from the hands of a terrible monster. Whenever we met you, we used to say that our hearts are filled with stones. Even though the stones have been removed, there is still no relief. We are stuck somewhere. We are stuck, the people’s government has not been established. Now that there is a government, it is an interim government.”

He said, it has been reported in the newspapers that 12 billion dollars have been laundered every year. It has been calculated that 100 billion dollars have been laundered. It has completely destroyed the economy. It has destroyed humanity the most. Wherever they go, the thieves of the Awami League are sitting. They are still sitting.

Mirza Fakhrul further said, the heroic freedom fighter Sadeq Hossain Khoka had good relations not only with the BNP, but also with the leaders of all parties. Sadeq Hossain Khoka had named all the roads in Dhaka after prominent people.

Addressing the youth, the BNP Secretary General said, “Now is the era of the young generation. When Abbas and Khoka were brothers, Dhaka was shaking. You too will have to shake.”

He also said, Sheikh Hasina was defeated by Khoka Bhai. When was she defeated? When people chose that person as their close friend. I have never seen her get excited, she used to take decisions after thinking a lot. Her death was as heavy as a mountain for us.

He said, Dhaka people are very lucky to have two people like Mirza Abbas and Sadeq Hossain Khoka, who are very worker-friendly.

Other speakers at the time were BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Abdus Salam, International Committee member and Sadeq Hossain Khoka’s son Ishraq Hossain, etc.

The discussion meeting was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu and moderated by Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin.
