Thakurgaon Correspondent //
The main mastermind of fascism is in India, so we are still in danger. India is continuing its campaign against us. At this moment, we cannot attempt another disaster, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He made this comment during a discussion with journalists at his residence in Thakurgaon on Wednesday (November 13) morning.
The BNP Secretary General said that one political party cannot ban another political party. If a political party is to be banned, the people will do it through a vote. Or the parliament will decide.
In response to journalists’ questions, Mirza Fakhrul said that we have no concerns about the Awami League, our concerns are about the next elections, we are not sure yet. The interim government has not given any road map for the elections yet. We want a free, healthy, impartial election. Before the election, reforms are needed to create a level playing field to make the electoral system suitable.
On the question of appointing the advisor, he said, there can be 25 to 40 advisors to run a country. It is such a big country. And who will make the interim government an advisor and who will not make it an advisor is entirely the prerogative of the chief advisor, Professor Dr. Yunus. The government should play a cautious role in appointing advisors. Mirza Fakhrul advised not to take those who are controversial because it is the responsibility of all of us to make this government successful, Mirza Fakhrul also commented.
BNP Secretary General recited a few lines from Vishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore’s poem, Notun Asha, and said, “Being intolerant is not enough, there must be questions.” He commented that the current interim government should be given time so that it can properly complete other reforms, including the electoral system. However, it is not enough to do politics all the time, we must work with our hearts.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the rise in the prices of daily necessities including rice, pulses and oil in the market is making it difficult for ordinary people to manage their families. The government should also take care of this aspect.
Mirza Fakhrul then inaugurated the foundation stone of the new building of Thakurgaon District BNP.
District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, Vice President Abdul Al Mamun, Finance Secretary Shariful Islam, former UP Chairman Paygam and leaders and activists of the party’s affiliated organizations were present at the time.
