A mother and son died of electrocution in Nabiganj municipality area of ​​Habiganj. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area.

The incident took place at around 11:30 am on Monday (November 18) in Gayahari village of Nabiganj municipality.

The two deceased are Anima Chandra Dev (70), wife of Durga Charan Dev of Gayahari village, brother-in-law of former councilor Pranesh Chandra Dev, and Nipesh Chandra Dev (45), son of Durga Charan Dev.

It is learned that in the morning, Anima Chandra Dev, wife of Durga Charan Dev of Gayahari village, went to take a bath in the bathroom of her house. Anima Chandra Dev was electrocuted inside the bathroom. At that time, her son Nipesh Chandra Dev stepped forward to save Anima Chandra Dev, but Nipesh was electrocuted as soon as he touched Anima. Later, the family members rescued the mother and son and took them to the Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared both of them dead.

Later, SI Piyush Kanti Dev of Nabiganj Police Station went to the hospital and prepared a post-mortem report on the body. Meanwhile, as the news of the mother and son’s death spread, a shadow of grief fell on the surrounding areas including Gayahari village.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nabiganj Police Station Md. Kamal Hossain confirmed the death of the mother and son due to electrocution.
