The energy sector has saved Tk 3.7 billion in government procurement in the last three months, said Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
He made this statement at a discussion meeting of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industry on the energy crisis in the industrial sector at the Westin Hotel in the capital on Saturday (November 23).
The energy advisor said that we must move towards renewable energy. Tenders for 40 renewable energy projects will be given this week.
He said that there is a lack of competition in the public sector. To survive, we have to get out of the bribery trade. There is a need to bring government procurement into competition.
He also said that business will no longer be done by making friends with the government. Competition will be created for good businessmen.
