Election Reform Commission chief Badiul Alam Majumder said that several recommendations have been made, including returning the no vote and ensuring transparency in the source of funds. These include direct presidential elections and no candidate being elected uncontested.

He made this statement after a meeting with senior journalists and editors of the Election Reform Commission on Saturday (November 23).

Badiul Alam Majumder said, “The appointment of the Election Commission based on political consensus and the use of technology has come up. The Reform Commission is also thinking about this, especially regarding the votes of expatriates. It has also said what percentage of votes will be elected. There was a discussion on returning the no vote and ensuring that no one is elected uncontested.”

At the meeting, editors and senior journalists expressed their opinions on the media’s experience, challenges and Election Commission reforms in the past three parliamentary elections and local government elections.
