The dictatorship is conspiring with local and foreign masters: Tareq

Chuadanga Correspondent //

The more the country’s elections are delayed, the more the conspiracy will increase, said BNP Acting Chairman Tareq Rahman. He made this comment while speaking as the virtual chief guest at the district BNP conference held at Chuadanga Town Football Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Tareq Rahman said, “The more the country’s elections are delayed, the more the conspiracy will increase. The dictatorship has been overthrown through a people’s uprising. The dictatorship against which millions of people in the country have been protesting for more than a decade is not sitting still. That dictatorship is conspiring with its domestic and foreign masters.’

Tareq Rahman said, ‘The longer the election is delayed, the health facilities of the people of this country, the education system of the students of this country, the problems of the farmers of this country, the various problems of the businessmen of this country, the problems of the judiciary of this country, the problems of the administration of this country, all the problems that this dictatorship has created will increase further. It is only possible to gradually solve the problems of the country through an election.’

Commenting that the current interim government is capable of holding a fair election, Tariq Rahman said, only if they (the interim government) are able to hold a fair election, real people will be able to get elected. Those who will truly speak for the people, think about the interests of the people. Think about solving the problems of each sector. If real people’s representatives are elected through a real election, then only then is it possible.

Addressing the BNP leaders and activists, Tariq Rahman said, ‘The countrymen want to give responsibility to BNP. To take responsibility, one has to play a responsible role. We have to make ourselves worthy of taking responsibility. Just as we will choose the leader who will lead in Chuadanga in the future, let us all pledge today that no matter what level of leader or worker we are, it is not a big deal. You are a BNP worker, you are a soldier of Shaheed Zia. Therefore, everyone has to play a responsible role. You have to understand what the people of your area expect from you and work by understanding that.’

The top leader of the BNP further said, ‘Just as a conference is needed to build our organization today, just as a conference is needed to build real leadership and future leadership, similarly, if Bangladesh has to be built, if the fate of the people of Bangladesh has to be changed, if that work has to be started, if we have to start our canal digging program, if we have to start the industrial revolution, if we have to solve the problems of our farmers, we definitely need real people’s representatives. Those who will speak for the interests of the country, speak for the people, and for that, elections are needed. We have to clearly convey this to the interim government today. We have to convey this to the people of Bangladesh. Because, all the democratic countries in the world have gradually solved many of their country’s problems through this practice of democracy.’

The conference’s formalities began at 10:40 am after hoisting the national flag with the national anthem and releasing balloons. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the conference. After the leaders including the Secretary General took their seats on the stage, the party anthem was performed by the Nationalist Social and Cultural Organization (JASAS).

In his opening speech, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Sheikh Mujib first introduced fascism in this country. Sheikh Mujib killed democracy. Awami League means theft and corruption. During the previous Awami League regime, on the one hand, terrorism was committed, and on the other hand, murders and disappearances were committed by the state forces and police. A new sun has risen in this country with the help of students and the public. We must be enlightened by the light of that sun. The wants of the people of this country and the wants of BNP are the same. We also want the leadership of the state to be in the hands of the youth. For this, we have to remain united.’

Among others, BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman (Dudu) and Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Acting Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam, Joint Organizing Secretary Jayanta Kumar Kundu, National Executive Committee Member Azizul Bari, Chuadanga District BNP Member Secretary Sharifuzzaman, Meherpur District BNP President Masud Arun and General Secretary Amjad Hossain, and Kushtia District BNP President Syed Mehedi Ahmed (Rumi) spoke at the conference.

At the beginning of the conference, District BNP Convening Committee Member Waheduzzaman presented a condolence motion in memory of the party’s deceased leaders and activists. Prayers were offered for the souls of those martyred in the student-public movement and the deceased members of BNP and its associate organizations. District BNP Member Khandaker Abdul Jabbar presented the organizational report.
