Maulana Saad’s follower Moaz bin Nur has been arrested. He was arrested in a raid in the capital’s Uttara area on Thursday (December 19) evening immediately after the murder case. He is a resident of Sector 7 of Uttara. His father’s name is Nur Mohammad.

Earlier, a clash broke out between Maulana Zubair and Saad’s followers over control of the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi. Three people were killed in the incident.

A case was filed at Tongi West Police Station, naming 29 followers of Maulana Saad and several hundred others as accused. Moaz bin Nur is the fifth accused in the case. The case was filed by SM Alam Hossain of Kishoreganj, a follower of Maulana Zubair.

Confirming the arrest on Friday (December 20) morning, Tongi West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Iskander Habibur Rahman said that immediately after the case, Moaz bin Noor was arrested in a raid in Uttara area.

In the case statement, the plaintiff mentioned that the accused mentioned are followers of Maulana Saad. They disobeyed the decision of the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on November 4 and 7 to obstruct the first phase of the Bishwa Ijtema and tried to tarnish the image of Islam. They continued to propagate on various social media including Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms to gather supporters of the Saad movement at Tongi Maidan on December 20-24 in order to embarrass the government.

The main accused in the case, Wasiful Islam, through a letter signed by him, informed supporters of the Saad movement across the country that the old ones will gather at Tongi Bishwa Ijtema Maidan on December 20-24. They should also bring their friends with them and have torch lights and hand microphones with them.

Accused number 2 in the case, Abdullah Mansur, announced on Facebook Live that if the elders are not allowed to gather and bring Maulana Saad to the Bishwa Ijtema, if they are not allowed to gather at Tongi Maidan on December 20-24, then they will not allow the first phase of the Bishwa Ijtema to take place.
