Capital increased by 12,495 crore taka amid rising indices

Trading ended with rising indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) in the outgoing week (December 15 to 19). However, while the amount of transactions in taka decreased on the DSE during the period under discussion, it increased on the CSE. At the same time, the market capitalization of the DSE and CSE increased by 12,495 crore 64 lakh taka in the outgoing week.

This information was revealed by the weekly market review of the DSE and CSE on Saturday (December 21).

DSE’s main index DSEX increased by 116.14 points or 2.27 percent to 5,221 points in the past week. Among other indices, the DSE-30 Index increased by 56.40 points or 3 percent to 1,938 points, the DSE Shariah Index increased by 27.31 points or 2.40 percent to 1,140 points, and the DSMEX Index (SME Index) decreased by 34.81 points or 3.13 percent to 1,076 points.

On the last working day of the farewell week, the market capitalization stood at Tk 6,59,205.51 crore. On the last working day of the week before the farewell week, the market capitalization of the DSE was Tk 6,52,496.35 crore. That is, the market capitalization increased by Tk 6,709.16 crore over the week.

During the outgoing week, the turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange was Tk 1,492.29 crore. During the previous week, the turnover was Tk 1,610.92 crore. That is, the turnover on the DSE decreased by Tk 1,186.3 lakh crore.

A total of 397 companies traded shares and units on the DSE in the past week. Of the companies, 172 increased their prices, 168 decreased their prices and 57 remained unchanged. Shares of 16 companies were not traded.

In the other capital market, the CSE’s overall index CASPI increased by 218.69 points or 1.52 percent to 14,522 points in the past week on the Chittagong Stock Exchange. Among the other CSE indices, the CSE-30 index increased by 2.29 percent to 12,024 points, the CSCX increased by 1.62 percent to 8,843 points, the CSI index increased by 1.04 percent to 935 points and the SESMEX (SME Index) increased by 1.02 percent to 2,058 points.

On the last working day of the past week, the market capitalization stood at 6,94,142 crore 76 lakh taka. On the last working day of the week before the outgoing week, the market capital of CSE was 6 lakh 88 thousand 396 crore 26 lakh taka. That is, the market capital increased by 5 thousand 746 crore 48 lakh taka during the week.

In the outgoing week, the Chittagong Stock Exchange recorded a transaction of 46 crore 88 lakh taka. In the week before the outgoing week, the transaction was 26 crore 96 lakh taka. That is, the transaction in CSE increased by 18 crore 92 lakh taka during the week.
