Police should not be politically influenced anymore: IGP Baharul

Sylhet Correspondent //

Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said that the big challenge now is to bring back the enthusiasm of the police. In the last 15 years, the police have been used politically. The police should not be politically influenced anymore. Work is underway on police reform. We are ashamed that the police have committed major crimes to save party interests.

The IGP said this as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with officers of all units of the department at the conference room of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) headquarters today (December 21).

He also said that in the changed situation, unscrupulous people have taken advantage of the case. Innocent people who have been accused will not be arrested. The police will investigate and assure them to avoid harassment.

The IGP said that 6,000 weapons looted across the country have been recovered. 2,000 weapons have not been recovered yet. Everyone’s cooperation is needed to recover these weapons.
