Yemen’s Houthi rebel group has threatened to attack US bases in the Middle East if Israeli attacks on Gaza and Yemen in Palestine do not stop.

Mohammad Ali, a member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group, made the threat on Tuesday. He said that if the attacks on Yemen continue, US interests in the Middle East will be targeted. The news was reported by Turkish media Yeni Safak.

Mohammad Ali posted a video on social media X and gave a stern warning to Washington.

In it, he said, “We are warning the Americans to stop the attacks on Yemen. If they do not stop, we will ignore any red line and hit US interests in the region.”

The Houthis issued this warning after claiming to have attacked an aircraft carrier and shot down a US F-18 fighter jet in the Red Sea last Sunday.

The Houthis attacked the US warship in the Red Sea with eight cruise missiles and 17 drones. The US F-18 fighter jet was shot down while trying to repel these attacks.

The US Central Command (Centcom) had earlier claimed on Sunday that the US warplane was mistakenly shot down over the Red Sea.

Israeli warplanes carried out extensive attacks on the Yemeni coastal city of Al-Hudaydah and the capital Sanaa last Thursday, and the Houthis launched drone and missile attacks on the US warship in retaliation for the attacks.

Israel has carried out three airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since July.

Israeli cargo ships or Israeli-owned ships have been attacked in the Red and Aden Seas to express solidarity with their Palestinian brothers in protest of the massacre in Gaza.
