The continued conspiracy of the forces against the mass uprising has further strengthened our unity, said Chief Advisor to the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He made this comment in a video message at the two-day national dialogue on unity, reforms and elections in the speech of the chief guest on Friday (December 27) morning.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, we have earned the right to enter the transformation phase of Bangladesh through the mass uprising. We must be committed to deploying all our strength to make this transformation easy.
The Chief Advisor said, preparations for reforms and elections will go on simultaneously. Consensus is needed on reforms. He also said that reforms without unity or elections without reforms are not possible.
The two-day dialogue began on Friday morning at the Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (KIB) in Khamarbari, the capital. The dialogue was inaugurated by the family members of those injured and killed in the coup.
The dialogue, moderated by Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Director General Faruk Wasif, will feature special speakers Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque and economist Dr. Mushtaq Hussain Khan. Political scientist Dr. Ali Riaz will deliver the closing speech. Journalist Monir Haider read out the concept paper in the first part of the inaugural ceremony.
The first session titled ‘Which Way Is Unity?’ will feature politicians including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Mia Md. Golam Parwar, Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim and many others. Advisors will include Adilur Rahman Khan, Sharmin Murshid and Mahfuz Alam. Farhad Mazhar, Salimullah Khan, Badiul Alam Majumder, Hossain Zillur Rahman, Debapriya Bhattacharya, Nasiruddin Patwari, and others will also be present.
Advisor Md. Nahid Islam, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Hasnat Abdullah, and many others will speak in the second session titled ‘Blood Debt and Desire for Unity’.
Three sessions titled ‘From Disappearance and Murder to July Massacre: Challenges of Justice’, ‘Responsibility for Reform and the Roadmap to Elections’, and ‘Bangladesh’s Interests and Security in Geopolitical Reality’ will be held on the second day of the dialogue. Advisors Brigadier (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Professor Asif Nazrul, and M Towhid Hossain will be present in these sessions. Politicians will include Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and Jonayed Saki, among others.
