After completing all preparations, Khaleda Zia will leave for London on Tuesday, and will leave that night in a ‘special air ambulance’ sent by the Emir of Qatar.
The BNP Chairperson exchanged greetings and well-wishes with members of the Standing Committee at her residence ‘Firoza’ in Gulshan at 9 pm on Sunday.
Coming out of ‘Firoza’, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir briefed reporters on the dates of Khaleda Zia’s London trip.
A BNP leader involved in Khaleda Zia’s preparations for treatment abroad said that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, knowing about the BNP Chairperson’s illness, provided this special aircraft from his royal fleet to take her to London. It has many modern medical facilities.
Khaleda Zia, 79, who has been suffering from various health complications including liver cirrhosis, heart disease, and kidney problems for a long time, will first visit her son, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, in London on Tuesday night.
After staying at her son’s house for a few days, the BNP Chairperson will go to the United States for advanced liver treatment.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “By the infinite mercy of Allah, the uncompromising leader of our country’s democracy, the most beloved leader of the people, will leave for London on the night of January 7 for treatment. That is why all the members of the National Standing Committee came to extend their greetings.”
He said, “We have talked to her, we have spoken. We have prayed to Allah to restore her health and bring her back among us, among the people of the country.”
When asked when Khaleda Zia will return, the BNP Secretary General said, “The doctors can tell that. We cannot say. We hope that she will return to the country soon after completing her treatment.”
