Renowned actor Prabir Mitra is no more

Recognized actor Prabir Mitra has died. He died at 10:10 pm on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital. This information was confirmed by his younger son Sifat Islam.

Meanwhile, Shilpi Samity president Misha Saudagar also confirmed the death of the veteran actor and said, Prabir Mitra is no longer with us. His death made us even more sad after the funeral.

Regarding the actor’s burial and funeral, Misha Saudagar said that Prabir Mitra’s body will be kept at his Dhanmondi residence at night. The next day, it will be brought to FDC after Zohr. After the first funeral, the body will be taken to the Channel I premises. After the second funeral, it will be buried at Azimpur cemetery.

Later, Prabir Mitra’s daughter-in-law Sonia Islam also gave the same statement regarding the burial.

81-year-old Prabir Mitra was hospitalized for 13 days with several physical complications. He was admitted to a private hospital in the capital on December 22 due to several illnesses, including lack of oxygen in his body. His physical condition deteriorated over time.

Prabir Mitra was born on August 18, 1943, in Chandina, Comilla. His full name is Prabir Kumar Mitra. Prabir Mitra, who grew up in Old Dhaka, got involved in drama since his school days. He acted in Rabindranath Tagore’s play ‘Dakghar’ during his school days.

Prabir Mitra first stood in front of the camera in 1969 by acting in the late H Akbar’s film ‘Jolchhobi’. Although the film was released on January 1, 1971. Early in his career, Prabir Mitra acted in a few films as a ‘hero’. Later, he gained popularity as a character actor.

Notable films in which he acted are – ‘Titas is the name of a river’, ‘Jiban Trishna’, ‘Seyana’, ‘Jaliat’, ‘Faryad’, ‘Blood oath’, ‘Charitable’, ‘Joy Parajoy’, ‘Angar’, ‘Mintu is my name’, ‘Fakir Majnu Shah’, ‘Madhumita’, ‘Ashant Dheu’, ‘Alonkar’, ‘Anurag’, ‘Pratigga’.
