BSF hands over Zahur Ali’s body two days after death

The BSF has handed over the body of Zahur Ali (60) of Chunarughat two days after his death. The body was handed over through the Chunarughat Balla border at 5:30 pm yesterday, Thursday (January 9). The Indian police handed over the body to the Bangladesh Police in the presence of the border guards of the two countries, BGB and BSF, on the Khowai Bangladesh-India Balla border.

The deceased Zahur Ali is the son of Munshab Ulya of Paschim Dulna village of Gazipur union of Chunarughat upazila.

Earlier, the Khowai police recovered the body of Zahur Ali from the Indian border two days after his disappearance on January 7. He is a security guard by profession. He works at Bashundhara SDL Company Limited in Dhaka.

According to police and family sources of the deceased, he came to his home in West Dulna on a 5-day vacation on January 4. After arriving, he left his home on the evening of January 5 to sell lungis. Later, after a long time passed, his family searched for him a lot as he did not return home. Even then, no trace of him was found. Finally, on January 7, they learned on social media Facebook that an unidentified body had been found in the Khowai River in Gaur Nagar, a border area of ​​India. The body was recovered by the Khowai Town Police in India and sent to the Khowai Town Government Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Later, local public representatives and people and the family members of the deceased identified the unidentified body as Zahur Ali after seeing the photo of the unidentified body.

In this regard, Inspector Investigation of Chunarughat Police Station Md. Shafiqul Islam told The Daily Morning Sun, in the presence of Balla BGB and BSF public representatives, Khowai Police Station Sub-Inspector and investigating officer of the case, Subhankar Dev Barma, handed over the body of a Bangladeshi named Zahur Ali. He further said, quoting the Indian police, that Zahur Ali did not have any serious injuries on his body and that he died of a heart attack. Even then, the details will be known after receiving the PM report. Gazipur Union Chairman Mohammad Ali said the same. He said, it is not right that the BSF shot and killed him. They very sincerely handed over the body to us.
Present at the time were Khowai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Subir Malakar, Police Sub-Divisional Rang Dulal Dev Barma, BSF Company Commander Kundan Kumar, Chunarughat Police Station Inspector Shafiqur Rahman, Balla BGB Camp Commander Nazmul Islam, Gazipur Union Chairman Mohammad Ali and the deceased’s son Oli Mia.
