3 female workers of Badsha Pioneer Company killed in bus accident in Madhabpur

Three female workers of Badsha Pioneer Company were killed in a bus accident in Madhabpur, Habiganj. The accident occurred at 7:30 am today, Saturday, in front of Badsha Company in Shahjibazar on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the upazila.

The deceased are Urmi Akhter, daughter of Mansur Mia of Majlishpur village in Baniachong upazila, Dilara Begum, daughter of Qayyum Ullah of Jantari village in Nabiganj upazila, and Rumi Akhter, senior operator of Badsha Pioneer Company.

Police and eyewitness sources said that the workers left in the morning with a tom-tom to join the company’s work. On the way, when they reached Shahjibazar area, a bus at high speed hit the tom-tom. As a result, the tom-tom overturned and twisted, killing two female workers on the spot. One person died on the way to the Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Habiganj District Sadar Adhunik Hospital morgue.

Madhabpur Police Station Duty Officer Saidul Haque told The Daily Morning Sun that the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and kept at the Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue. Police are trying to arrest the driver and the vehicle. After the incident, factory workers blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. Later, highway and police stations reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
