BNP has formed two special committees to discuss in detail the continuous rise in commodity prices and cyber security and present them to the nation. The decision was taken at the regular meeting of the standing committee held on Monday night.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave this information at a press conference on Tuesday (January 14) afternoon.

Highlighting the decision of the standing committee, Fakhrul said that the meeting discussed the Cyber ​​Security Ordinance in detail. A decision was taken to hold a press conference with more detailed information about this law. In this regard, a committee headed by National Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Professor AKM Wahiduzzaman and Barrister Kaiser Kamal was formed. The committee will immediately prepare a report on this issue.

Mirza Fakhrul said that deep concern was expressed at the meeting of the standing committee over the continuous rise in commodity prices. On the one hand, the meeting believes that the increase in the price of essential commodities, rising inflation, and on the other hand, the increase in VAT and other tax rates will have a negative impact on the economy.

It was decided to hold a press conference with detailed information in this regard. In the meeting, a committee was formed with National Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury as the convener and Ismail Zabiullah as the advisor to the Chairperson. This committee will immediately prepare a detailed report.

The meeting of the Standing Committee held under the chairmanship of the acting chairman of the party, Tarique Rahman, was attended by – Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salauddin Ahmed, Begum Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram and Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

The BNP Secretary General said that since the Election Commission has already been formed, there is no reason to delay the National Assembly elections. There is no question of holding local government elections before the National Assembly elections. The elections can be held by July 2025. The Standing Committee calls on the interim government, the Election Commission and all political parties to come to a consensus on this issue.
