The government is considering hiring more teachers to increase capacity rather than increasing seats in medical colleges, said Nurjahan Begum, Health Advisor to the interim government.
She said this while visiting the MBBS admission test center at the Dhaka Residential College center on Friday (January 17) morning.
Nurjahan Begum said that doctors should be produced based on need. The government is not considering hiring more teachers to increase capacity in medical colleges, but to increase capacity. The colleges will be coordinated if necessary.
Meanwhile, the MBBS admission test for the 2024-25 academic year of government and private medical colleges in the country has been held. This test was held at multiple venues in 19 centers across the country.
The candidates took part in the 1-hour test from 10 am to 11 am on Friday (January 17). Earlier, the candidates entered the center after being searched from 8 am.
It is learned that this year 1 lakh 35 thousand 261 applications have been submitted. The total number of seats in medical including quota is 5 thousand 380. Accordingly, this year instead of one seat, 25 students have participated in the admission test. They are expecting good results after the test.
