Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, ‘No concessions will be made in border security of the country even if blood is shed.’

He said this at the certificate distribution ceremony for survey and settlement training of BCS cadre and judicial service officers at Bhumi Bhaban in Tejgaon yesterday, Sunday afternoon.

In response to journalists’ questions about the Chapainawabganj border incident, the advisor said, ‘There was a clash between two sides over cutting paddy and trees in Chapainawabganj. People from both sides were injured in this. It was resolved through discussions. The people are helping the government. The BGB is alert at the border. We are vocal about our rights.’

He also said, ‘No measures or steps have been taken before regarding border security. Now that is being done, the problem is coming to the fore.’

Presided over by the Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Land Records and Survey, Dr. Md. Mahmud Hasan, the program was addressed as special guests by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land ASM Saleh Ahmed, Chairman (Secretary) of the Board of Land Organization AJM Salahuddin Nagri, and Chairman (Secretary) of the Land Appeal Board Muhammad Ibrahim.

The Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘Thousands of cases pending in the civil courts regarding land ownership for ages must be settled quickly. Land services must be made easier. The registration and mutation process must be made more people-friendly.’
