Donald Trump has returned to the White House after being elected president for a second term, creating a record in the history of the United States. Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were sworn in as the new president on Monday at noon local time (11 pm Bangladesh time).
Then Trump addressed the nation. He said, “God has a reason to keep me alive.” He said, “Change will come soon.”
Trump said that a state of emergency will be declared on the Mexico-US border on Monday.
On the occasion of Trump’s oath as president, there was a lot of decoration everywhere in Washington on Monday. The entire city was covered in security blankets. About 25,000 members of the law enforcement forces were responsible for ensuring security at the event. Every 4 years, the inauguration of the US president is held in the open. But due to the severe cold, the inauguration ceremony was held inside the Congress building this time. For the second time, the entire event was held in the rotunda of the Congress building. Trump himself said on Friday that this was being done due to the severe cold. Since it was held inside the Congress building, there was no opportunity for a large crowd to gather this time. There is only seating for 20,000 guests. Those who did not get tickets to enter, enjoyed the event live on a big screen on the National Mall. After the oath, Trump marched from the Capitol to the White House in a grand parade. A parade was also organized in the Capitol Rotunda in Trump’s honor. Earlier, in 1985, Ronald Reagan was sworn in as president inside the Capitol building. This is the first time in 120 years since Grover Cleveland that a US president has returned to the White House for a second term after defeat.
Presence of prominent figures: The presence of the top wealthy people in the technology world was a big surprise at Trump’s oath-taking ceremony. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and TikTok CEO Shou Chiu, among others, were in VIP seats at the event. Outgoing President Joe Biden, former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama were also in attendance. Other first-time wives were present, but Michelle Obama was not. Trump’s 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton and current Vice President Kamala Harris were also in attendance. Although it is customary not to invite foreign heads of state, Trump invited the right-wing leaders of Italy and Hungary, Giorgia Meloni and Viktor Orbán, Argentine President Javier Miglia and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The fact that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not invited to the event has caught the attention of many.
