Everyone must agree on banning Awami League: Nurul Haque Nur

Dhaka //

People’s Rights Council President Nurul Haque Nur said, ‘If the confrontation between the interim government and political parties continues, the Awami League will automatically be rehabilitated. Everyone must agree on banning the Awami League.’

He said these things as the chief guest at a discussion titled ‘Expectations and Achievements after the Mass Uprising’ organized by the Bangladesh Professional Rights Council at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Saturday afternoon.

Complaining that the interim government is running against the people’s wishes, Nurul Haque Nur said that the government’s advisors have been showing failure since their formation. He called for the formation of a national government by bringing changes in the interim government and combining political parties.

Stating that if student leaders are tarnished, the young leadership in building the future of Bangladesh will be questioned, the former VP of DUCSU said, whoever formed the government in the past has been involved in trying to amass power.

He said, it is heard that meetings are held even in Saudi Arabia. The People’s Rights Council has built a political foundation through a history of struggle. We have said long ago that the same person cannot be the Prime Minister for more than two terms. Now we applaud the same decision of the Reform Commission. We have talked about a balanced parliament and proportional elections. Discussions are now underway on which. The disparity in salaries in the current grades in government jobs needs to be removed. There is no need for 20 grades, there can be 4 to 5 grades. If there is a need to increase the salaries of employees to stop bribery and corruption in all government offices, it should be increased. The spread of black money in elections should be stopped. The display of muscle power should be stopped. Instead of discussing them, all those who have been agitating have become busy with their own business. Many international communities are working to bring the Awami League back to the country. We have now sought a new political settlement to abolish the fascist political system. The political parties and the government are in a face-to-face position with the interim government. This division can rehabilitate the Awami League in the country.

Reform is not possible without a national government. The people do not want anyone to be put in power alone. Regarding the formation of a national government, Advisor Nahid says that they wanted a national government, but BNP does not want a national government. However, we have been talking about the formation of a national government from the beginning. The interim government has shown its failure in the last five months. We call for the immediate reorganization of the advisory council and the formation of a national government.

General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council Md. Rashed Khan said, Dr. Muhammad Yunus Sir formed the Citizens’ Power in 2007. Later, when it could not succeed, he dissolved that party after a few months. Now there is a rumor in the market that he has his blessings in forming a new political party. But we do not believe this. I will request Dr. Yunus Sir to clarify the matter. Because the people do not want the King’s Party. Whoever forms a party, we will have our best wishes. But no one will accept forming a party with the privileges of the post-uprising government. Because, everyone has a role in this uprising. Why are the advisors telling BNP that they want 1/11? BNP is the biggest victim of 1/11. Rather, it is heard that 1/11’s skilled workers are roaming around some of the advisors of this government. Rather, people are worried that this government will fail and create another 1/11.

He said, we will tell the government, do not fail. Sit down with all the political parties and the forces of the uprising. Publish a roadmap through discussions. The results of creating distance with the political parties will not be good. This government has not seen success in the last 5 and a half months. Rather, it has failed step by step. Why are the Sheikh family, Awami High Command and Awami Pandas from the Trinamool not being arrested yet? Why are the families of martyrs not getting compensation, and the correct list of martyrs and injured not being published? Why was the VAT tax increased without reducing the prices of daily necessities? The advisors are trying to impose these failures of the government on the political parties.

Rashed also said that many political leaders, including the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, have made similar statements to the statement made by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Is it a crime to criticize the government, ask for a roadmap and elections in a democratic state? Rather, the government is creating complications instead of solving everything logically. Creating complications like this will create another 1/11.

Senior Vice President and Higher Council Member Md. Faruk Hasan said that after the revolution, the people’s demand was a national government, but today it has not been achieved. Why it has not been achieved is the people’s question today. It is the failure of those in power.

President of Bangladesh Professional Rights Council Dr. Under the chairmanship of Jafar Mahmud and moderated by General Secretary Advocate Khalid Hasan, other speakers included: Abu Hanif, Senior Member of the Public Rights Council, Advocate Nur Ershad Siddiqui, Habibur Rahman Riju, Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Professional Rights Council Md. Shamsul Alam, Media and Publications Secretary Journalist GM Roknuzzaman, Joint General Secretary SM Sumon, Office Secretary Rezwan Roop Dinesh, International and Security Affairs Secretary Syed Tanvir Yusuf, Co-Organizing Secretary Ataur Rahman Rony, General Secretary of the Workers’ Rights Council Sohel Rana Sampad, among others.
